Note on Achlasan C[haluim]-Chille [St John's Wort/St Columba's Plant] probably collected from Archibald Currie, aged forty-six, shoemaker, Iocar [Ìochdar], Uibhist a Deas/South Uist describing how it is [collected] 'gun sire[adh] gun iar[raidh]' and 'is scraped ag[ainst] its bark and a crosgag (a ring) is made and placed in the bottom of the milk [boyne].' The note also describes the 'cneapag' which is made before the crosgag is made. Calum Cille [St Columba] is described as 'the best herd...

Scope and Contents
Note on 'Foineachun' [foinneachan or warts] probably collected from Archibald Currie, aged forty-six, shoemaker, Iocar [Ìochdar], Uibhist a Deas/South Uist describing how an old woman in Bornish [Bornais] cured her warts using straws and multiples of nine so that there were eighty-one [straws] for each wart. These were buried in a pit until they withered and the warts were gone. The text is unclear in its meaning.
