Notes on the illegitimacy of MacDonalds probably collected from Margaret MacDonald, Malacleit/Malaclete, Uibhist a Tuath/North Uist stating that Donull Gruamach [Domhnall Gruamach] was the first of the MacDonalds to have inherited through marriage law as all previous incumbents had been illegitimate.
