The letter dated Whitehall 6 November 1706 written and signed by Hedges conveys the news to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland that the army is marching north and that the Queen (Anne) has asked for troops from Ireland to join them.

Scope and Contents Note protesting the sale of the manuscript letters of Queen Ann [sic] and the first Duke of Marlborough to Sir Charles Hedges, Secretary of State. The grandaughter of Sir Charles married into the Montague family at Lackham House, Wiltshire in 1742 and the letters had been considered a family heirloom since that time.
