Scope and Contents

Contains three texts, all in the same hand.

ff.1r-77v: 'Aurora' by Peter Riga

ff.78r-99v: 'Architrenius' by Johannes de Hauvilla

ff.100r-121r: 'Anticlaudianus' by Alanus de Insulis

The texts are described separately, under MS 20/ff. 1r-77v; MS 20/ff. 78r-99v; and MS 20/ff. 100r-121r.

Writing and Illumination

Well written in a small, clear, uniform hand, with ornamental initials. These are either filigree initials, or, in the case of some book initials, red and blue, filled and surrounded with conventional foliage in red, yellow, and green. See individual descriptions for more details.

The book is much stained with moisture at the beginning, and imperfect.

From its general appearance it would seem to be an English manuscript, but it bears no distinctive marks of origin or ownership.
