Identifier: Coll-97/CW111/44
Scope and Contents
Story about 'Alast[air] mor nam marst' of Boisdale [Baghasdal, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist] probably collected from Duncan MacLellan, clachair [mason], Càrnan/Carnan, Uibhist a Deas/South Uist, telling how he was so small when he was born that it was difficult to deliver him but when he grew up he 'was as big as two men'. The story also tells how Alasdair was 'the first of the Boisdales' and that two of 'Bois[dale's] lads' dug up a boat that had been 'sunk in a hole between Boi[dale] and Killphead[air] at Cnoch nam Mallach'. [Cille pheadair/Kilpheder, Cnoc nam Mallach]
