Scope and Contents
Song entitled 'Cleireach Nan Salm' [Clèireach nan Salm] collected from Donald Camashron [Donald Cameron], Coille-othar, Bracadal, Eilean Sgithach [Coille Odhar/Coillore, Bracadale, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye] on 4 February 1862 beginning 'A Chleirich a leughas na Sailm, 'S Carrail leam nach math do chiall'. The song is composed of forty-six lines divided into twelve verses and describes a battle between the Fenians and the Lochlannaich [Vikings]. Some annotations have been made to the text in ink.
