Story about a man from E òropaidh who went to Rònaidh and his sister, 27 October 1873
Scope and Contents
Story about a man from Eòropaidh/Eoropie, Eilean Leòdhais/Isle of Lewis who went to Rònaidh/North Rona. The story tells how he was fed up with women quarrelling, prayed to God for a place of his own and was taken to Rònaidh by a whale. When the whale landed, the seals and otters made scraping marks in the rocks at a place called 'Sgriob nam biast'. The man's sister [Brianain] wished to follow him and ended up on Sula Sgeir where, on a clear day, she could see her brother. The text of the story is much abbreviated and some of the meaning is unclear.
