Scope and Contents
Song collected from Mary MacRae, aged 95 years, Taobh Tuath/Northton, Na Hearadh/Isle of Harris beginning 'An Cailain Og o Stiuraibh i, S gara an oi[dh]che noc[hd] rim thao[bh]'. The song is composed of thirty-two lines. The text has been scored through in ink and a note written transversely over the initial lines reads 'Transcribed Friday night 11/11 1870 Book No 3 page 101 A[lexander] A[rchibald] C[armichael].' The accompanying story tells how it was composed by Iain mac Mhic Mhurchai Leois [John MacKenzie of Lewis]
