Story about Alastair Mor nam Marst and Sir Tormad, 1871
Scope and Contents
Story about Alastair Mor nam Marst [Alasdair Mòr nam Mart or Alexander MacDonald of Boisdale] and Sir Tormad possibly collected in Uibhist a Deas/South Uist telling how Alasdair used to spend time with Mac Iain ic Sheumais [Donald MacDonald] and was married to 'Seonaid niean Iain ic Dhonil Ghuirm Shleibhte'. Alasdair sent a message to 'Fear Hamera not to come across Cuan Uist as long as he lived' and in return Fear Hamera challenged Alasdair to meet him at Auin Snizort [Abhainn Snizort or River Snizort, An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye]. Alasdair went to the Isle of Skye but Fear Hamera never appeared and as a dog passed by he grabbed it, killed it it, hung it up and attached a note to it stating that Sir Tormad was a coward, before returning home.
