Song entitled 'Laoi Dhuil Liosadair' and accompanying story, 16 June 1876
Scope and Contents
Song entitled 'Laoi Dhuil Liosadair' [Laoidh Dùghaill Liosadair] collected from Cairistina Nin Duil (Nic aonas) [Christina MacInnes], Creagorry, Benbecula [Creag Ghoraidh, Beinn na Faoghla] beginning 'Cluinn a dhuine bi nad fhaicill, Mu'n tuit cadail orst na deiseil'. The song is composed of ninety-four lines. This item has been written in four different types of pencil and has been scored through in ink as if to indicate that it has been transcribed elsewhere. THere is one annotation in ink and some of the text on the second folio is very faint with poor legibility. The accompanying story tells how Dual Liosadair was in a trance when he wrote the hymn and that he lived in An t-Eilean Sgitheanach/Isle of Skye. There is a verse of seven lines after this note about Dùghaill Liosadair beginning ''S e chualas guth thuirt rium gu [-], O[deir] mi mo shaoir ri lathair'.
