This part of the manuscript contains the text Soliloquium de Arrha Animae (The Soliloquy on the Earnest Money of the Soul), a theological treatise that describes a dialogue between a man and his soul. It was written by Hugh of Saint Victor (1096-1141), a Saxon canon regular and writer on mystical theology.
