Identifier: MS 104/ff. 39r-55r

Contents

This section of the manuscript contains the text De Conceptu Virginali by Anselm of Canterbury (1033/4-1109). Anslem was a very influential and prolific writer of philosophical and theological treatises and dialogues. He was a monk, abbot, held the position of Archbishop of Canterbury, and is considered a Saint and a Doctor of the Church. The full title of this dialogue is De Conceptu Virginali et de Originali Peccato (On the Virgin Conception and the Original Sin). As the title suggests, it presents us with an analysis of the problem of Mary’s conception of Jesus while being a virgin and of the original sin of Adam and Eve.
