Contents

This part of the manuscript contains De Processione Spiritus by Anselm of Canterbury (1033/4-1109). Anslem was a very influential and prolific writer of philosophical and theological treatises and dialogues. He was a monk, abbot, held the position of Archbishop of Canterbury, and is considered a Saint and a Doctor of the Church. The complete title of the text is De Processione Spiritus Sancti Contra Graecos (On the Procession of the Holy Spirit Against the Greeks). It treats the problems of the holy Trinity and human knowledge of God, as a recapitulation of Anslem’s position on these subjects at the Council of Bari in 1098.

The title on f. 143r reads: Liber Anselmi cantuariensis archiepiscopi de processione spiritus sancti. The text starts on f. 143r with the following words: Negatur a grecis quod spiritus sanctus. And ends on f. 160r with the following words: non sensui latinitatis. Explicit liber Anselmi archiepiscopi de processione spiritus sancti.
