De Trinitate by Richard of Saint Victor

 part
Identifier: MS 109/ff. 1r-64v

Contents

This section of the manuscript contains De Trinitate by Richard of Saint Victor, a Scottish canon regular, philosopher, and theologian, active in the 12th century. De Trinitate is one of Richard’s greatest works. It is a study on dogmatic theology, which aims to show the coherence of Christian revelation and reason. It was probably written while Richard was a prior of the Augustinian Abbey of Saint Victor, in Paris, between 1162 and 1173. In this manuscript, book VI is incomplete, wanting a few sentences at the end, and here there is a gap of 24 ff., according to the original foliation. It is not clear what is missing.
