Sermon by Arnoldus Creveterodt, 1521
Contents
This manuscript contains a sermon by Arnoldus Creveterodt [or Crevecerodt]. Little is known of him and of this sermon, expect for what is said in the colophon, which reads: ‘This sermon was composed by lord Arnoldus Creveterodt [or Crevecerodt], Augustinian bishop in Meissen and suffragan of Hildesheim, which he delivered in the benediction of the Lord of the abbot of the monastery of Saint Michael, on the day of the ten thousand martyrs of 1521.’
The colophon on f. 1r reads: Hic sermo extat editus per dominum Arnoldum Creveterodt Augustinianum Misiensem [Misnensem] Episcopum ac Hildensemensem suffragis quem recitavit in benedictione Domini abbatis monasterii sancti Michaelis. In die decem milium martyrum Anno domini millesimo quingentesimo vigesimo primo. Incipit sermo. The text starts on f. 1r with the following words: In nomine sancte trinitatis, etc. Venerabiles patres Domini spectabiles, and ends on f. 7r with the following words: Quod ipse prestare dignetur cuius regnum et imperium sine fine permanet in secula seculorum Amen.
A clear hand, with a good rubric and a plain red initial.
