This section of the manuscript contains Carmen de Algorismo by Alexander of Villedieu (born c. 1175, also known Alexander de Villa Dei), a French Franciscan author, teacher, and poet, who wrote textbooks in verse, including Doctrinale Puerorum, for which he achieved some fame. The Carmen de Algorismo is a short treatise in verse on arithmetic. This version has extensive commentaries on the text as marginal gloss.
