Scope and Contents

This file contains letters sent from Buzuluk, and Alexievka. This month she describes a blockage of supplies due to trains being held up by rivers flooding key track lines. There is a great fear that they won't get food until the thaw, which is saved towards the end of the month by a great cold snap! Previously they experienced a great drop in the death rate, and people have been hopeful, perhaps a turn for the best. This month contains only three letters, which MR explains is due to the thaw, which will prevent couriers from getting to them for 4 or 5 weeks due to flooding. Her last letter of the month begins with their fear of a bandit attack which had hit the villages nearby them, stealing all the foodstuffs and seed for sowing. A report claimed they were 2,000 strong, so a militia is being formed, but no more than 20 are strong enough. More reports inform them that the bandits target Soviet and Ispolkom officials. against their original plan to spread it out over the weeks. Despite their original plan to spread their ration out over the weeks, the Famine Committee has begun to give out rations as quickly and evenly as possible, to leave nothing for the bandits to steal. She gives the population of Gerasimovka and Loevka, and their deaths for each of the months that she has been there. The letters finish saying the bandits of skipped their village.
