Scope and Contents
A bundle of 10 notebooks, containing notes or scripts for lectures on a lecture series, which seems to have taken place between 1884 and 1885. The following notebooks survive:

'Celtic as Indo-European [according to] Prichard, Bopp, Zeuss, and Ebel'; and 'Celtic as Indo-European [according to] Ebel and scholars since Ebel' (Item 37d)
'Position of Celtic [according to] Schleicher and Ebel' (Item 37e)
'The Celtic languages' [Containing comparative typology and historical linguistics of the Celtic languages] (Item 37f)
'Points of difference between the Celtic languages' (Item 37g)
'The language of Old Gaul' [Evidence for language spoken in Gaul up until and including the time of Caesar] (Item 37h)
'The Ogham alphabet' (Item 37i)
'Abstracts of lectures on the Celtic languages 1884-5' (This notebook is almost completely empty, bar a few pages in the front section, which contains a syllabus for the students, who studied Celtic at the University of Edinburgh in the academic year 1884/85)
