Lectures on John Carsuel, 1893-1894
Scope and Contents
According to previous historical records, these notes were part of a lecture series on John Carswell. However, this item contains two notebooks; the title of the first one being 'Modern G[aelic] Lit[erature]: I. Carsuel', suggesting that the series was on the wider subject of Scottish Gaelic literature. The second notebook is title 'John Carsuel', and may have been a handwritten draft for an article, or notes for another lecture on Carswell (as per the modern spelling). It is likely that the two documents were organized together because of the common subject, rather than because they were written at the same time in preparation for the same event (i.e. the aforementioned 'lecture series' from previous historical records).
