Commentariorum In Hierarchiam Coelestem S Dionysii Areopagitae by Hugo of Saint Victor, 13th century
Contents
This section of the manuscript contains the Commentariorum In Hierarchiam Coelestem S Dionysii Areopagitae by Hugo of Saint Victor. It is a commentary on the Celestial Hierarchy, a work written by Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite in the 5th century. Hugh of Saint Victor was a theologian writing in the 12th century.
In this manuscript, this text is titled De differentia mundane theologie atque divine et demonstracionibus. It starts on f. 27v with the words Judei signa querunt et greci sapientiam.
This section is divided into different books by rubricated incipits marking the start of each book as follows:
f. 31v: Book One
f. 36r: Book Two
f. 42r: Book Three
f. 44v: Book Four
f. 52r: Book Seven
f. 68r: Book Ten
However, the books seem to be incorrectly numbered, and Book 1 actually begins on f. 29v.
This section ends on f. 72r with the words sanctitas condescendit. Deo Gracias. Another hand has written some notes at the end of this section.
This section is written in the same hand as the rest of the manuscript. There are some marginal annotations in another slightly later hand, probably 14th century, which has also added some notes at the end of this section.
