Bartholomaeus Anglicus (Bartholomew the Englishman, before 1203 - 1272) was a Franciscan friar, scholastic philosopher and author, around mid-13th century, of the encyclopaedic work De proprietatibus rerum ('On the nature of things').
First extract (ch. 18.11): it begins on f. 55r with the words Apis est animal multipes et breve inter omnia animantia; it ends on f. 59r with the words et aliis autoribus sunt excerpta sed haec sufficiant.
Second extract (ch. 12.4): begins on f. 59r with the words Apes secundum Ysydorum sunt dicte eo quod sine pedibus nascuntur; it ends on f. 61r with the words in tractatu de animalibus secudum Plinium et Avicenam. Finis.
