Contents
The text is attributed to Augustine of Hippo (354 - 430, bishop, theologian, and Doctor of the Church) by the scribe, but it is spurious. It is printed in Migne's Patrologia Latina 40, columns 1031-1046.
Prologus: on f. 191r. It begins with the words Prologus. Ego primus peccator et ultimus insipientior ceteris et imperitior universis and ends with the words et cur quis christianus nuncupetur exponam. Explicit prologus.
Text: it begins on f. 191v with the words Incipit liber beati augustini de vita christiana. Christum unctum interpretari sapientum et fidelium nullus ignorat; it ends on f. 200v with the words ut quod praesentes praestare non possumus conferamus absentes. Hoc faciendo quisque vitam obtinebit eternam. Amen. It is followed by the rubricated colophon (i.e. final note) Explicit liber beati Augustini de vita Christiana anno m°cccc°lxv°, which indicates the date in which the text was copied.
