 part
Identifier: MS 208/ff. 241r-251r

Contents

This section contains a collection of Letters from various Burghs, with the Laws of King David, King William, and King Alexander grouped together. The Letters and Laws are in Scots, and end incompletely; the colophon (in Latin) has been inserted after 2 blank pages.
The Letters start on f. 240r. This is a miscellaneous collection of Letters from various Burghs, including Lanarke, Aberdeen, and Newcastle. These texts concern the customs of these Burghs.
The Laws of King David start on f. 241r. This probably refers to the David I, King of Scotland from 1124 to 1153. This section contains 20 titles.
The Laws of King William start on f. 245r. This probably refers to William I, also known as William the Lion. He was King of Scotland from 1165 to 1214. The tabula for this section contains 11 titles, but only 10 are written.
The Laws of King Alexander start on f. 246v. This probably refers to Alexander II, son of William I. He was King of Scotland from 1214 to 1249. The tabula for this section contains 29 titles, but only 6 are written, and they end incompletely.
The Colophon to this section is on f.251r, after 2 blank folios. It reads Expliciunt leges et laudabiles consuetudines regni Scocie extra burgum edite et stabilite per, bone memorie, David, Willelmum et Alexandrum serenissimos dicti Scocie, scripte per manum quhat rake. This seems to be the only part of this section in Latin.
Writing This section is written in the same hand as the previous and following sections; folios 1-129 are one hand, and folios 130-335 are in another
