Life of Adam and Eve, 1330s
Contents
These two leaves are from the version of the Middle English Life of Adam and Eve that appears in the Auchinleck manuscript. This is a unique version of this Apocryphal text.
In these fragments, the text begins with the line Iiȝtbern þat angel briȝt, which is the first line of the poem. It ends with the line þat may on min errand gon, which is line 352.
Both leaves should be placed between f. 13 and f. 14 in the Auchinleck manuscript.
The Auchinleck manuscript was copied by 6 scribes. This text seems to have been written by Scribe 1 in clear bookhand.
