Second Row - design of the layout as projected by the Departmental Board. Third Row - 2nd position in the competition - Premiated Design by Eliel Saarinen of Helsingfors Finland. Third Row - competition number 35 by Schaufelberg, Rees and Gummer, architects, London. Third Row. Hon. Mention, by Harold van Buren Macgonigle. 'The Federal Capital of Australia' design competition received 137 entried from architects and architect teams offering visions of the proposed capital. 46 original plans survive and are held at the National Library of Australia, exhibited in 1995 at the 'An Ideal City' touring exhibition.
