5 items that were exhibited in the 'Later Medieval (Burghal)' section of Geddes' replacement Cities and Town Planning Exhibition. An extract from the catalogue of the Dublin exhibition (Ui Breasail) reads "With the wars of indepedence the town began to take on a new character. It was probably first walled in the time of Edward I, and from now onwards became more and more crowded." (p. 37). A second extract reads "...To this is directly traceable the long overcrowding and underhousing of Edinburgh with high rents and land values." (p, 38).
