Scope and Contents

Portrait of Thomas Dalyell of Binns, 1615–1685, who was a professional soldier, royalist and eventually Commander-in-Chief in Scotland. Binns is remembered for his unrelenting persecution of the Covenanters during the “Killing Time”, 1661 - 1685. From an original painting in possession of Sir James Dalyell of Binns, Bart. Published by Blackie & Son, Glasgow, Edinburgh & London, c. 1834.
