King's Stables Road, c 1890-c 1910
Scope and Contents
King Stables Road and the south back of the West Port taken from Main Point, but it has proven very difficult to identify the site of the camera, and the photographer (who, in this case, labelled the negative) was (and his question mark shows that he was uncertain in this case) mistaken about the names of places. Johnstone Terrace is in the middle distance, with the south wall of the Castle Esplanade beyond. The spire is that of the former Tolbooth St. John's Church (Victoria Hall). Compare with Coll-1167/B/26/7/17 - the same factory chimney appears in each image. Handwritten title by R. Dkyes.
