East Crosscauseway back of Nicolson Street, c 1890-c 1910

The original envelope containing the slide had been titled "Causewayside" but the image is actually of"Crosscauseway". The configuration of the chimney stacks and visible formation of windows and stonework (the blackened stones below the right-hand chimney stack may still be seen, (c. 1990). Image Coll-1167/B/26/19/6 suggests that the tall building in the background is a still existing (1990) tenement on the east side of St. Patrick's Street, view from the south end of Cowan's Close. The buildings in the foreground have been demolished. In the late 1990s, the east side of St. Patrick Street was partially rebuilt. Handwritten title by R. Dykes.
