Lothian Street, c 1985
Scope and Contents
Photograph taken from a point near the end of Lothian Street looking east. Behind the photographer would have been the junction of Bristo Place, running north, as it still (1989) does, Bristo Street running south, and at a short distance beyond the McEwan Hall, Teviot Place running west. Some recent maps (1970s-1980s) show the site of Bristo Street (north end), as Bristo Place (see Coll-1167/B//17/2-3). The buildings on the right were demolished c.1960-1970 for University of Edinburgh development; those on the left still exist (1990s). The Old College is visible at the far end of the street. Handwritten title on the original envelope containing the corresponding glass plate negatives was written by R. Dykes.
