Special Direction for Using the Greener "Safti" Killer on Dogs, 1920
Scope and Contents
An information sheet from The Council of Justice to Animals (Scotland), of which Miss Netta Ivory was Honorary Secretary, detailing special direction for using the Greener "Safti" killer on dogs.
The Council of Justice to Animals was founded in 1911 and aimed to improve methods of humane destruction for animals and slaughtered livestock. It is now known as the Humane Slaighter Association.
This leaflet details directions in how to shoot a dog in the head whilst providing comfort. At this time there were discussions on how best to put down dogs. Other methods included electrocution and suffocation, which were deemed to be too distressing to the animals.
