B. which I had rather leave to the interpretation of the learned".

Autograph letter signed from Nicholas Tindal to Leonard Horner: 7 February [no year], Bedford Square [London]: "I regret very much my unablety to accept your invitation to dinner on Saturday 16th – but we are already engaged on that day at Mr Justice Coltman’s [i. e. the judge Justice Coltman, who fell a victim to the third cholera pandemic in 1849]. It is much to be lamented by your friends that the labours of your arduous office carry you so frequently and for such long periods from us; I hope however upon your next return from the North we shall have the pleasure of seeing more of you company [...]".
