Concerns Rolf Gardiner's account of his work in Malawi, his conservation experiments, schemes that were lost, and his writings.
10. Rolf Gardiner has had his records of work, and impressions of Central Africa in particular from 1947, put together and excerpts of the more interesting, descriptive and historical passages typed. Describes his frustration over constructive plans for land use and landscape treatment of the region between Chileka and Blantyre. 13 January 1971.
12. Rolf Gardiner wishes to place his records in George Shepperson's hands. His material is incomplete. Indexing is unsystematic, but the table of contents is chronological. There is some overlapping and repetition. 2 February 1971.
15. Gardiner finds that everything at Nchima is flourishing. He is anxious to prevent Blantyre-Limbe becoming strangled with slums. He is to receive the Peter Josef Lenné gold medal at Strasbourg for his endeavours in the field of landscape husbandry. 9 September 1971.

27. Curtis Brown to George Shepperson. He sends a copy of the anthology of Rolf Gardiner's writing. Understands that the file relating to his African work was to be put into the Edinburgh University Library. 3 February 1983.
29. George Shepperson to Mrs Gardiner, Springhead. He would like to look at diaries and Gardiner's reports to the London Board of Directors at the Malawi Tea Estate. 21 March 1983.
