Letters from Charles Lyell, To Sir J. Clark. Marked 'No 1' on reverse, no summary. Sending a copy of his letter to Lord Wrottesley with a proof of the report to the British Association [this is the Report for the Parliamentary Committee of the British Association for the Advancement of Science on the question, Whether any measures could by adopted by the Government or Parliament tht would improve the position of Science or its Cultivators in this Country' folio 3711]. Also writes that he sends certificates [not included] advocating for appointment of Dawson to Edinburgh Chair. Two copy letters to Wrottesley, written by Mary Lyell, pages from The Montreal Gazette 9 November 1855, and The Montreal Witness 26 December 1855 feature articles on Dawson.
