From a typed note pasted on the page: "Bain, Thomas, M.A. Born at Fortrose, 1815. Studied at Aberdeen University. Ordained at Mortlach, Banffshire, 1842. Signed the Act of Separation and Deed of Demission. Translated to Coupar-Angus, 1843. Married, 1844. Elizabeth Christine Burns, sister of William C. Burns of China. Became senior minister, 1883. Mr. Bain was clerk of the Meigle Presbytery for nearly forty years. Died, 1884."
