From a typed note pasted on the page: "Bryce, James, LL.D. Born, 1792. Licensed by the Presbytery of Stirling, 1819. Ordained, 1824, as minister of the Presbyterian Church at Stamfordham. Translated to Wooler; and, 1835, to Gilcomston, Aberdeen. Married, 1828, Mary Plenderleath. Signed the Act of Separation and Deed of Demission. Resigned, 1853. Died, 1861."
