From a typed note pasted on the page: "Burns, George, D.D. Born, 1790. Youngest son of John Burns, Surveyor of Customs, Bo'ness. Studied at the University, Edinburgh. Ordained, 1816, as minister of St. John's, New Brunswick. Married, 1827, a daughter of the Rev. J. Struthers. In 1831 he was settled at Tweedsmuir. Signed the Act of Separation and Deed of Demission. Removed to Corstorphine, 1844. Became senior minister, 1865. Died, 1876. Publications.- Lectures and Sermons and Prayers for Public Worship. Prayers for Family Worship.".
