Biographical / Historical

From a typed note pasted on the page: "Chalmers, William, D.D. (Aberdeen). Born at Malacca, 1812. Son of a medical man in the H.E.I.C.S. Studied at the University, Aberdeen, and Divinity Halls, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Ordained at Aberdour, 1836. Translated, 1841, to Dailly, Ayrshire. Married, 1842, Emily Bryce. Signed the Act of Separation and Deed of Demission. Translated, 1845, to Marylebone, London; and, 1868, became Professor in the Theological College of the English Presbyterian Church, of which in 1880 he was made Principal. Resigned, 1880. Died, 1894. Publications.- "The Power of Civil Magistrate.; The Church Question.".
