Biographical / Historical
From a typed note pasted on the page: "Ferrie, William, M.A. Born, 1815, at St. Andrews. Son of Dr. Ferrie, minister of Kilconquhar and Professor of Civil History, St. Andrews. Studied at the Universities, St. Andrews, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. Ordained, 1839, at Anstruther, Easter. Married, 1840, Jessie F. S. Taylor. Signed the Act of Separation and Deed of Demission. Resigned his charge at Anstruther, 1850. In 1851 he went to America, where he was settled at St. John's, New Brunswick, and was transferred to Fourth Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, New York, 1861. In 1863 he removed to Canada, and, after labouring in Prescott and Spencerville, settled in the State of New York, 1869, as minister of The Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church at Mongaup Valley, Sullivan County. After twenty-eight years of service there he left for Monticello, where he died. Publications.- Life and Letters of Rev. John Carstares. The Cream of Scottish History. The Relation that Puseyism bears to Poerty, etc."
