Biographical / Historical

From a typed note pasted on the page: "Goold, William Henry D.D. Born at Edinburgh, 1815. Son of Rev. W. Goold. Studied at the University, Edinburgh, and Divinity Hall of the Reformed Presbyterian Church. Ordained colleague and successor to his father, 1840. Married, 1846, Margaret Symington. In 1853 Dr. Goold became Professor of Biblical Literature and Church History in the Hall of his Church. In 1860 he was appointed secretary of the National Bible Society of Scotland. He took a leading part in the union of the Reformed Presbyterian Church and Free Church in 1876. Dr. Goold was the last Moderator of the Reformed Presbyterian Synod. In 1877 he was Moderator of the Free Church General Assembly. Dr. Goold was editor of the Edinburgh edition of the Works of John Owen. Died, 1897. Publications.- Patronage v.
