From a typed note pasted on the page: "Grierson, James, D.D. (Edinburgh). Born at Ruthwell, 1791. Studied at the Univesity of Edinburgh. Ordained at Errol, 1819. Married, 1822, Margaret Moncreiff. Signed the Act of Separation and Deed of Demission. In 1854 Dr. Grierson was Moderator of the General Assembly. Became senior minister, 1870. Died, 1875. Publications.- A Doctrinal and Practical Treatise on the Lord's Supper. Nicodemus."
