Biographical / Historical
From a typed note pasted on the page: "Maclagan, James, D.D. (St. Andrews). Born in 1788; son of the parish minister of Blair Atholl. Studied at St. Andrews University and Theological Hall; ordained assistant and successor at Auchtergaven in 1813, and translated to Kinfauns in 1821. Dr. Maclagan married a daughter of Dr. Stewart of Luss; and after her death, Catherine Stormonth. He signed the Act of Separation and Deed of Demission, and in 1845 was appointed Professor of Divinity in the Free Church, Aberdeen. He died in 1852. Publications.- Posthumous.-Lectures and Sermons. With Preface by Rev. A. D. Davidson."
