From a typed note pasted on the page: "Omond, John Reid, D.D. Born at Kirkwall, 1804. Studied at the University, Edinburgh. While serving his apprenticeship as a Writer to the Signet he entered the Divinity Hall, Edinburgh. After officiating as probationer at Logiealmond he was ordained at Monzie, Perthshire, 1836. Married, 1837, Margaret Thomson. Signed the Act of Separation and Deed of Demission. Became senior minister, 1880. Died, 1892. Publications.- While a student Dr. Omond edited the Presbyterian Review from 1831-34. He also edited Crookshank's History of the Church of Scotland, and contributed several articles to the Seventh Edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica."
