Biographical / Historical
From a typed note pasted on the page: "Born, 1823. Apprenticed to literary work on the staff of the Witness, for some years he devoted himself to editorial desires. The Free Church Magazine, the Stirling Tracts, the Christian Treasury, the Family Treasury, were successively in his hands, the British and Foreign Evangelical Review and the News if teh Churches were projected by him, and her superintended for a time the Colportage Department of the Religious Tract Society. In 1866 Dr. Cameron was ordained at Maryton. In 1870 he became colleague and successor to Dr. Cairns in Melbourne, where he started a weekly religious newspaper, the Southern Cross. Translated to St. Kilda, 1873. Died, 1877."
