Includes the offer of employment from the Foreign Office to Irene Young for a technical assistant position at Bletchley Park, September 1942.
Also includes a letter from Emily Young to her dautgher Irene Young on the rapprochement with Lieut. Leslie Cairns, Royal Artillery (then on service in North Africa), 1943. Leslie Cairns had sent a letter to Irene Young c/o her parents in Edinburgh. On the strength of this renewal of contact the engagement, broken in 1942, was renewed.
