Volume of ballads clipped from broadsides, 1825-1835

 Series
Identifier: Coll-90/2

Scope and Contents

Volume containing the manuscript minutes of the West Port/Bow Yearly Society, c 1825. The minutes and accounts are largely obscured, owing to the numerous clippings and exceprts pasted in that form a scrapbook of ballads.

The broadside clippings, where identified, are all printed between 1831 and 1835. Most are printed in Edinburgh, with 7 printed in Reading, England.

The collator of the scrapbook is unknown, but the names of some members of the Yearly Society are visible at the ends of minute entries. The collator cropped most clippings close to the text, destroying decotative woodcuts, printers' imprints and original footnotes.
