Biographical / Historical
Beale was awarded a five-year programme grant by the Medical Research Council in 1972 for research on the genetics of malaria parasites. The research involved carrying out work on rodent malaria parasites Plasmodium berghei and Plasmodium vinckei, with the aim of improving an understanding of the basic biology of the human malaria parasite.
