File of papers relating to the redevelopment of the Barbican area of London as part of London County Council's Comprehensive Development Area no 1: City of London. The file consists of a number of reports concerning the scheme by either London County Council's Architect's Department, the Corporation of London Improvements and Town Planning Committee or Chamberlin, Powell & Bon, the architects commissioned to create the scheme. There are also a number of proofs of evidence and related correspondence, relating to an enquiry into the rival "New Barbican" scheme proposed by the New Barbican Committee, an independent group of architects
