Papers of Fred McMillen
Content Description
This fonds consists of the student archive of Frederick (Fred) Hugh McMillen, created when he was a student at the Royal (Dick) Veterinary College from 1938 to 1943. It includes class notes, examination questions, Fred's diploma and certificates, a photograph of the wartime hockey team of which he was the captain, and three crest shields (RDVC, RAVC, RCVS).

- Photograph of Royal (Dick) Veterinary College Athletic Club, Hockey Section – 1st XI season 1942-43;
- Three painted wooden shields with crests, 18cm x 15cm; Royal Army Veterinary Corps, Royal (Dick) Veterinary College, Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons;
- Three Anatomy and Histology sketchbooks;
- Student lecture notes in notebooks and loose-leaf files: Nutrition and Hygiene, Milk Hygiene, Pharmacology, Histology, Anatomy, Zoology, Biochemistry, Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, Physics, Practical Biology, Botany, Biochemistry, Embryology, Pathology, Breeding and Transport, Genetics, Bacteriology, Osteology, Obstetrics, Applied Surgical Jurisprudence, Sterility, Meat Inspection, Clinical Diagnosis, Tropical Medicine Summer, Poultry Diseases, Protozoology.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Donated by Fred McMillen's son to The Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in 2021. Transferred to CRC in August 2021. Note accompanying material: "This item was donated to the Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies by Ian McMillen and his wife Diane in memory of this father Fred H. McMillen who graduated MRCVS from the Dick Vet in 1943".
