Scope and Contents
This is a collection of letters sent to James Guthrie Tait containing references to William Farrer, as well as one letter sent by Tait, and one letter sent by Farrer, 1903-1943.
- Letter to "Dear Prof." from an unidentified sender, Weston-Super-Mare, 16 September 1917.
- Letter from John F. Curwen to John Guthrie Tait regarding the death of William Farrer and asking him to send him an "authoritative account of [Farrer's] writings" for the introduction to Records of Kendale, 24 August 1924.
- Letter to "Dear Professor Tait" from Alizon Cutforth (William Farrer's daughter), about the name of a "book of short biographies" which allegedly included Farrer's biography, sent from Rowney Bury, Harlow, Essex, dated 7 September [no date].
- Letter to "Dear Professor Tait" from Alizon Cutforth thanking Tait for sending her a "p. c. about the Dict. of National Biography". She also suggests they should meet in person next time she visits Altrincham. Sent from Rowney Bury, Harlow, Essex, 23 May 1937.
- Letter to "Dear Professor Tait" from Alizon Cutforth telling Tait she appreciated the "charming notice about [her] father [Tait] wrote for the D.N.B". She suggests they should meet next time she is in Altrincham, in Spring. Sent from Rowney Bury, Harlow, Essex, 21 December 1937.
- Letter from William Farrer to "Dear Sir", saying "I have much pleasure in sending Part 1 of Lancashire Final Concords", with comments. Sent from Thornburgh House, Leyburn R.S.O, Yorkshire, 16 November 1903.
- Letter to "Professor James Tait" from Mary Hemmant from the Selden Society regarding a manuscript "which was the property of Mrs Farrer of Grange-over-Sands". Sent from Sevenoaks, 18 May 1933.
